Complete Information

Full Description

This bar is part of our CollaBARation line, in which we partner with specialty food friends to create a chocolate bar using an ingredient or technique for which they're famous. We handcraft this single origin 62% dark milk chocolate (54% cocoa liquor and 8% cocoa butter, pressed in our factory) with cocoa beans we source directly from farmers in Davao, Philippines plus goat’s milk powder, certified organic cane sugar and a touch of Fleur de Sel Sea Salt. We then add pieces of salted black licorice to the back of the bar, and anise seed to balance the myriad of flavors and create an unbelievable texture. We partnered with our friend, (and Scandinavian distributor), Martin Jörgensen, and his licorice factory, Lakritsfabriken on this bar. Made with rice flour, Lakritsfabriken’s premium licorice is gluten free. The licorice is handcrafted in Martin’s small factory located in Ramlösa. Learn more about Martin and his licorice here.

This unique chocolate is gluten free.

A Product Of...

Davao, Philippines

The tourists in Davao, Philippines, often visit for the region’s summery climate and cultured history. Although much of Davao’s story entails Spanish conquistadors and Japanese immigrants, the arrival of the cocoa bean on Filipino soil is often left for the epilogue. When Spanish explorers first planted cocoa in the Davao region nearly 400 years ago, it was an attempt to guard what they called “food for the gods.” Little did they know that what they once hoarded would allow the Davao region to become one of the world’s premier sources for cocoa beans.
